Taiwan's military has relabeled its patriotic training as "anti-communist" for the first time in decades. The defense ministry says the change is meant to sharpen recruits' understanding of who the enemy is, why they fight and who they fight for, with a focus on China's cognitive warfare and infiltration efforts. The program was first introduced in 1965 but dropped the "Anti-Communist" label in 2002, becoming simply "Patriotic Education."
