The Women Who Fought Gender Discrimination in Taiwan’s Workplace

In 1987, women working at Taipei’s Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall challenged rules requiring them to resign when they turned 30 or became pregnant. Their fight drew support from women’s groups and lawyers, helping spur Taiwan’s push for gender equality in the workplace. At the center of the struggle was Tsai Chin-ho, who stood up for her colleagues and helped bring the dispute to national attention.
