Scientists at Taiwanese universities have successfully launched two research rockets, marking another milestone for Taiwan’s space ambitions. Both rockets broke records: one was the largest solid-propellant rocket launched by academia, while the other was the first liquid-fueled rocket independently developed by students in Taiwan. The sounding rockets are used to gather data and test critical systems in real-world conditions. The launches follow Taiwan’s space agency’s successful test flight of its domestically produced “Maraho” rocket. The efforts are part of the agency’s push to develop capabilities and break into the space transportation supply chain, strengthening Taiwan’s role in the space sector.
