Taiwan’s Army held simulator training with Stinger missile systems in Tainan on Tuesday as it works to strengthen defenses against aerial threats from China. Soldiers trained on both shoulder-fired and fixed-mount versions of the US-made air defense system. They used a Taiwan-developed simulator equipped with display screens and VR headsets. The drills allowed troops to practice engaging drones under battlefield conditions without conducting live-fire launches. According to Lt. Col. Chen Yu-wen, simulation training helps soldiers become familiar with operational skills. Stinger systems are part of a proposed US$14 billion arms package to Taiwan that is awaiting US approval.
