Taiwanese author Yang Shuang-zi’s novel "Taiwan Travelogue" continues to gain international attention after its English translation won the International Booker Prize earlier this year. The novel has now been translated into Dutch, becoming one of only 14 Taiwanese works published in translation in the Netherlands over the past 50 years. Translators Silvia Marijnissen and Annelous Stiggelbout worked directly from the original Chinese text, researching Taiwan’s food culture and historical context to bring the story to Dutch readers. The novel has also sparked discussions about Taiwan’s colonial history and cultural identity.
