阿曼旅館集團在上個月參訪台灣之後，表示有意在台東縣金崙溫泉地區興建觀光渡假村。
At the invitation of the Council for Economic Planning and Development under the Executive Yuan and the Tourism Bureau, Alwin Zecha, brother of the hotel group's chairman, paid a three-day visit in February to five potential resort locations in eastern Taiwan. They included the Sanhsientai Scenic Area and the Chinlun Hot springs area in Taitung County, and Lintienshan Forestry in Hualien.
透過行政院經建會以及觀光局的邀請，阿曼集團總裁的弟弟亞文．紀卡(Alwin zecha)於今年二月來台，在花東地區五個可能的地點進行為期三天的渡假村基地考察。這些地點包含台東的三仙颱風景區與金崙溫泉，以及花蓮的林田山。
The Tourism Bureau has chosen the five scenic spots as investment targets for international hotel chains.
觀光局在此之前已選定台灣五處觀光景點做為國際渡假村的投資招商基地。
Bureau Director-General Janice Lai said that Zecha set his heart on Chinlun Hotsprings area in Taimali Village in Taitung County after the visit. The 37-hectare Chinlun Hot Springs area, which is located just south of Jhihben Hot springs area, belongs to the government.
觀光局長瑟珍表示，紀卡在考察後屬意台東縣太麻裡鄉的金崙溫泉區。佔地三十七公頃的溫泉區是政府公有地，位在知本溫泉南方。
Local Chinese-language daily newspaper China Times yesterday ran a two-page story on Zecha's visit, which quoted Zecha as offering advice on how Taiwan could develop its tourism industry.
中國時報二十五日以兩頁的篇幅報導紀卡的這趟考察之旅。報導引述紀卡對台灣在發展觀光產業上的建言。
"It is not enough for the Tourism Bureau to market how beautiful Taiwan is in the international community. Instead, Taiwan's government should be determined and prepared to provide better facilities and policies in order to attract top businesses to invest in Taiwan," Zecha said.
他指出：「觀光局僅在國際上宣傳台灣之美是不夠的。政府應該更有決心地提供良好的制度與設施以吸引頂尖企業投資台灣。」
Eastern Taiwan has an abundance of natural and cultural resources but many other places in the world are similar, Zecha said, adding that Taiwan could not gain visibility in international tourism circles with its existing promotion strategy.
紀卡更說道，東台灣雖然有豐富的自然與文化資源，但是這並不足以使其脫穎而出。現存的行銷策略亦無法增加台灣在國際觀光市場上的能見度。
