The Ministry of Culture (MOC) held the 15th Golden Comic Awards (GCA) ceremony at the National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts on Oct. 24, presenting six awards with a total prize money of NT$2.75 million. The Special Contribution Award was bestowed upon Yu Su-lan (游素蘭).
Additionally, Wu Shih-hung (吳識鴻), author of “OKEN: Childhood Memories of a Taiwanese Poet (OKEN:詩的端倪) was honored with the Best New Talent award;” Godot Theatre Company’s musical “I am Working in a Fraud Company (我在詐騙公司上班),” an adaptation from the comic work of the same name, won the award for Best Cross-media Application; and Best Editor went to Chen Yu-rou (陳雨柔) and Hsieh Chih-ping (謝至平), editors of “Tender Is the Night (直到夜色溫柔).”
The Comic of the Year award was received by six winners, including “A Lever Scale (一桿秤仔)” by Ruan Guang-min (阮光民), “Agnosticism Detective 2: Akuninshōki (不可知論偵探2:惡人正機篇)” by Parrot (鸚鵡洲) and Xerses (薛西斯), “Tender Is the Night” by Huihui (廢廢子) and Chien Li-ying (簡莉穎), “Sexland Adventures: Lucas Short Stories Collection (性星冒險記:盧卡斯情色漫畫精選)” by Lucas Paixão (盧卡斯), “The Big Cats, Over The Stone Bridge (大貓族石橋之後)” by AAA-Bao (阿寶灰灰), and “Puppet 3 (人偶3)” by Yin-Fu (銀甫).
Remarkably, Ruan Guang-min’s “A Lever Scale” also won the GCA Grand Prize.
Culture Minister Li Yuan noted that a series of event will take place from Oct. 25 to 27 at the National Taiwan Museum of Comics, celebrating the achievements of Taiwanese comics. For more information, visit the GCA’s website.
